Angra do Heroísmo

Located on the south coast of Terceira Island, in the Azores, Angra do Heroísmo is one of the few cities that can be proud of having a center classified as World Heritage by UNESCO. The interior is characterized by the mosaic of green pastures, in contrast to the coast, with the coast blackened by lava torrents, forming small coves and peninsulas, the most famous of which is Monte Brasil, one of the most visited places. The island's privileged geographical situation made it a military port over the centuries, where fleets stopped to supply themselves, leaving a vast historical heritage still visible today. The festivities in honor of the Holy Spirit – in the city and on the island – are famous and last for several weeks after Easter.
