From the Monte come down the basket cars pushed by two Madeiran men dressed with typical clothes. A tradition that goes back to 1849 and turns the most typical transport of the Island in one of the well know tourist attractions.

Dedicated to scientific research, is intended to allow the development of Sciences and technologies of the sea, in the autonomous region of Madeira. On the last Monday of each month the station opens its doors to the public, providing visitors to the general public, who can appreciate the work of these researchers.
