Ilha da Madeira > Funchal > Foguete

This garden is located at about three kilometres from the centre of Funchal. It has about 2000 vegetal species, including plants that exist only in the Madeira island and in other Atlantic islands such as the Azores, the Canaries and Cape Verde. There are about 100 local species, that rang from those that grow on the sunniest hillsides of the island to the typical vegetation. One may find plants as diverse as plants from the Hymalaians and tropical plants. One will find tropical and subtropical fruit trees, such as mangoes, avocados, coffee, sugar cane and more, as well as cooking plants and medicinal plants from Madeira. There is also direct access to the Loiro Park, with rare exotic birds.
