Praia do Ancão
A beach with a rather wide stretch of sand where the Ria Formosa begins. Located by a luxury tourism village, the sand is very clean, the water of good quality and there are several backup equipments. One may practise several nautical sports or simply rent a parasol for resting in the shade. There are fine restaurants and night animation in the area.
Praia dos Olhos de Água
Located by the typical village of Olhos de Água, in the Algarve, this is a sandy shell taken mostly by the fishermen's boats and by many tourists. It has nice quality waters and curious submarine springs.

Praia da Marinha
A beach located in a lovely, somewhat rocky bay, with a lovely stretch of sand in between cliffs. A true cave paradise, its waters are much enjoyed by divers. Classed as Praia Dourada (Golden Beach), it has a good parking lot, a pleasant bar and chaises longues for rental.
Praia de Dona Ana
A sand shell between colourful cliffs, with interesting rocky formations. Quite attended by tourists, it has calm, crystal clear water. One must not miss the guided boat tours of the coastal caves. There are several restaurants that serve typical dishes.
Praia do Burgau

A peaceful, familiar beach on one of the extremities of the Natural Park of the Vicentine Coast. It is located in a fishing village.
Praia da Salema

Nice beach, integrated in a village of fishermen. Place much frequented by tourists, with nearby restaurants serve good dishes. A curious note about this beach is that, in the sea, and ten meters deep, if they find the wreckage of the French warship Ocean.
Praia do Barril
A much attended beach by tourists, at the Natural Park of Ria Formosa. One may get there by a red mini-train that connects Pedras de El-Rei and the beach for 2€, which is a lovely ride. At the end of the trip, one views the white sand that stretches on to the horizon and the calm, warm water. The terraces on the beach were once tuna fishing installations, now reconverted. There are some quality restaurants nearby.

A wide stretch of sand, surrounded by pine woods and by a luxury resort. There is a passage that leads to the beach. It has good quality water and vestiges of roman ruins by the sea.
Praia de Odeceixe
A beach located in a fishing village, in a small valley with edenic views. Located in between cliffs, it is crossed by the Ceixe brook that separates the regions of Alentejo and Algarve. There are artificial barriers on the sand in order to try and preserv the dunes. The water is cold and turbulent but excellent for surfing and conoeing. There are some restaurants that serve typical dishes.
