This Environmental Interpretation Centre intends to, at the same time, honoring Dalal Pigeon-a citizen who devoted much of his life to research and teaching in the area of natural-history, install a multifunctional space focusing on environmental issues and enhance the built heritage of Vila do Porto.

Managed by Recoil of St. Mary Magdalene, this ecoteca was inaugurated in 2005, promoting awareness, training and information on the environment.

The museum's permanent exhibition regards the importance of clay and the man that worked it on the island. This space features the island's history through ceramics and ethnograp+hic rural objects, the production of linen and wool and the Espírito Santo (Holy Spirit) celebrations, with written documents of several epochs.
