The Salpoente restaurant was reborn in February 2013 and, today, it is strongly recommended. Is already a bet wins and goals defined by the new leadership are ambitious: "we want to be the best cod restaurant in Portugal". The kitchen leads the young chef Duarte Eira which, in 2011, was the big winner of the contest "“Revolta do Bacalhau”.

At this restaurant the speciality is the fresh fish. The meal begins with escabeche eels (vinegar sauce) or mussels espetadinha (roasted on a spit) and continues with a mixed of grilled fish or frog-fish rice. To the meat appreciators there are also good proposals.

This restaurant is located inside the market itself, featuring a large living room with glazing providing a privileged view of the fish market. In this space you can enjoy various fish delicacies well made, with an emphasis on the lamprey and the stew of eels.
