A small gothic chapel is all that is left of the original medieval building. In the main chapel there is a golden sculptured panel of the 18th century. The walls have white and blue tiles and pattern polychrome.

Igreja do Convento de Santo António dos Capuchos

The church of the Capuchos was built at the beggining of the 17th century and has a façade with arcades and a niche, which is charactristic of the Capuchos architecture. It has an important set of 18th century tiles in the main chapel, representing each step in Saint Anthony's life, and on the side walls, representing Saint Anthony's death and the descent of the cross.

A church with a longitudinal plan and three manuelin style naves, with some gothic influence. Even though the typical structure and decoration are preserved in the main chapel, modifications of the 1800's are visible in the exterior, as well as even later modifications in the interior. One should notice the lateral wainscots and the triumphal arch with pattern tiles, dating back to the end of the 17th century.

The construction of the primitive church was initiated at th end of the 17th century. Considred insufficient for all the faithful that came by, it was enlarged from the middle of the 18th century until the first decades of the 19th century, at which time the façade was finished. The tiles on the walls of the main chapel and the vault, reconstructed after the earthquake of 1755, are of the 18th century. One should pay close attention to the interior with rococo sculptures.

Let us highlight the forecourt, composed of eight calcareous rock columns of toscane order which support six fallen arches structured into three vaults.

Built in the 16th century in the place of a hermitage where the sailors went to pray, it was deeply modified after the earthquake of 1755. The main chapel is decorated with a panel of the end of the 17th century, which belongs to the experimental baroque epoch. A stone image of Nossa Senhora da Esperança and yet another image of Santa Ana, credited to the sculptor Machade de Castro, ar part of this church's assets, that also includes paintings and images from several convents.

A neiclassic place, with a rectangular plan, two floors and a long straight façade. One should notice the forged iron adornations in the balconies of the main floor, the frames of the stonework on the main floor with architraves with a triangular gable and the axis marked by a monumental portal.

A revivalist palace with an iregular plan, where one should notice the façades, totally coated with stonework, the main portal which gives access to the atrium with friezes and stucco medallions, some involving mural paintings, and the main hall with two paintings on the ceiling surrounded by stucco oval fringes. One should also notice the the rooms decorated by painted vegetalist friezes, festoons, landscape painted medallions and angels.
