Synagogue of composite rectangular plant, with pure forms, volumes and plastered large spaces, large openings, domed and flat cover. Belongs to the Israeli community and preserves a rich history. This synagogue is the largest of the Iberian Peninsula and one of the largest in Europe. The visits are made only by appointment, from Sunday to Friday.

More than a café, Majestic symbolizes an important part of the city's history. It was inaugurated on December 17, 1921, under the name of Elite. Despite the frenzy of the inauguration, this name did not last, changing from Elite to Majestic, a name more appropriate to the spirit of the regulars. Restored in the early 1990s, it consists of a large rectangular room where, on both sides, there are benches in engraved leather, in front of which are placed tables and chairs. It looks like an ancient relic, but this is not true. This rococo style column is no more than an imitation of an old pillory placed there in 1945, as a decorative item, due to the works done in the Terreiro da Sé.

A must visit place, the Praça da Ribeira is the widest space in this historical area of the city. Decorated by the fountain of St. John and the controversial "Cube", the square is a place of very popular esplanades and bars.

Placed at the Terreiro da Sé, the oratory was part of an ensemble from the Grilos Convent.

The Homem do Leme, by Augusto Gomes, is a tribute to the boats’ pilots. It represents those brave men that, in the time of the sailing-crafts, had the responsibility to, in the open air, guide the boats to its destiny.

Monument made by Tomás da Costa, opened in 1900. Here the Infante appears with a representation of the world at his feet, pointing the Discoveries Way. This statue is near the Ribeira, right across the Mercado Ferreira Borges.

Opened in 1968, this equestrian statue in bronze, made by the sculptor Barata Feyo. It represents the mythical nobleman Vímara Peres, the presumable commandant of the troops that occupied the city from 868 to 1071 and that, in some way, presaged Portugal’s autonomy.

The most known monument of Ribeira is from José Rodrigues. It is a fountain which has a huge bronze cube at the centre.
