It is inferred that this church was built on the 16th century. Nowadays it is still used as the parish church of Sarzeda. It has wall painting panels next to the altar. These images represent the Gospel, Saint Bartolomeu and some Martyrs Saints. It is formed by a longitudinal plan with nave, main chapel, sacristy and campanile.

Aquilino Ribeiro was born in a house located here, in the parish of Castillo, Sernancelhe, September 13, 1885 day despite only having been registered his birth on 7 November of the same year.

This church has one nave with ceiling in coffers and façade topped by corners finished in pinnacles. The doorway with classic traces is outdone by a window interrupting the pediment. The bell tower is finished, on the corners, by pinnacles.
