In this archive there are about 357 thousand documents, including church registries, court registries, notarial registries, civilian registries and documents of the religious congregations extinct in 1911… There is also a collection of Music and Liturgy and another of Parchments as well as a deposit where the documents that have no moree place in the installations of the archive are kept.

This is the theatre where the major cultural events in town take place, from music and theatre to dance and poetry. There are also workshops, ateliers and temporary exhibitions. There is a bar with videos and discussions and the "Canto do Teatro", which is a space devoted to the memory of the old Teatro Viriato ( Theatro Boa União) that functioned between 1883 and 1960.
Paço dos Três Escalões - Largo do Adro da Sé
This museum, founded in 1916, initially functioned in the Cathedral and only in 1938 did it move to the Paço dos Três Escalões. Among the many exhibited works, a special note to the paintings of Grão Vasco, that came from the Cathedral, from the Bishop's Palace of Fontelo and from churches and convents of the Beira region and the paintings of fine contemporary artists. There are also furniture works, sculptures, jewellry, Portuguese earthenware, textiles, Oriental porcelains and archaeological artefacts.

This museum, located in a cloister of the Cathedral, has valuable objects of its treasure, such as sculptures, furniture, host receptacles, relic safes, religious clothings and books.
