The shore of the river is a resting and walking place seeked on sunny days. Starting from Luis de Camões garden, where you find the Tourism Post, and following the course of the Lis River, which determined the expansion of the city, you will find the Heróis de Angola Avenue that leads you to a commercial area where you might find the most recent novelties on fashion. After going through the Cine-Theatre José Lúcio da Silva, the most important playhouse in town, you will see, outstanding from the rest of the houses, the ancient São Francisco Church with its medieval paintings, one of the most valuable artistic displays of Leiria. To the other side, After the Luis de Camões garden will meet the Espírito Santo Church. Following the João de Deus Street and Tenente Valadim street, will see the Santo Agostinho Convent, with a pleasant garden, and a little further on, the place of an ancient paper mill, which still works as a flour-mill. Straight ahead, on the top, the São Gabriel hill where the sanctuary of Nossa Senhora da Encarnação was built is another terrace over the city, competing with the Castle.
