This space, placed in a beautiful room Eiffel style, has an interesting collection of objects from the former Portuguese colonies in Africa and Asia. Among these is a mask from Guinea Bissau relating to the circumcision ritual, musical instruments and spears, as well as the “Padrão”, a pillar used by the Portuguese to mark the conquest of Angola in 1482.
O Museu da Água reabriu ao público, em outubro de 2014, após um ano de trabalhos de requalificação. A Estação Elevatória a Vapor dos Barbadinhos foi alvo de uma intervenção que teve como objetivo garantir um plano completo de acessibilidades, modernização e atualização do espaço musealizado. Museum installed at the majestic palace of the Calheta Counts, from the XVIII century. Decorated with beautiful and ancient glazed tiles, inside the museum you will find more than 2000 samples of wood and about 50000 exemplars of dried plants.
A space-bookshop that welcomes several artistic events, such as exhibitions and workshops. It also has a bar and a terrace where one may read a book and listen to the background music.
