Built in the 18th century, with designs by Nicolau Nasoni, the Casa de Mateus is a landmark of Portuguese Baroque. The chapel, on the other hand, was designed by the master José Álvaro Rego. Established in 1970 by D. Francisco de Sousa Botelho de Albuquerque, its objectives are the preservation of the house, the study of its archives, and the promotion of cultural, scientific, and educational activities. This 18th-century building was restored by the City Hall when it was in danger of collapsing, to house the ancient numismatic and archaeological collections of Father João Parente. Here you will find one of the largest numismatic collections, as well as other types of archaeological artifacts also collected by Father Parente. This space also has an educational service, complemented by an area for temporary exhibitions.

Espaço onde se realizam os mais diversos espetáculos culturais, constituído por um Grande Auditório, com capacidade para 500 pessoas, um Pequeno Auditório, com capacidade para 150 pessoas, um Auditório Exterior, com capacidade para 700 pessoas, um Foyer, o Museu do Som e da Imagem, uma sala de exposições, uma oficina de artes, a Galeria-Bar, o Café-Concerto e algumas esplanadas.

The Museum of geology at the UTAD was founded in 1985 by Prof. Dr. Fernando Real, notable geologist and Magnificent Rector of the Instituto Universitario de Trás-os-Montes that the following year would be the University of Trás-os-Montes e Alto Douro. The Museum of Vila Velha is a new cultural equipment of Vila Real, housed in a building designed by the architect António Belém Lima, and aims to make known the fruits of archaeological excavations in Vila Velha, allowing an increasingly profound knowledge of occupation of this territory. The visitor can contact closely with the results of the interventions, but also with associated archaeological practices. On the lower level, offers an area dedicated to temporary exhibitions, diverse themed. On the top floor, an area for holding exhibitions of average duration. There is also an auditorium with capacity for 60 people.

The Museum of image and sound, integrated in the network of museums in the municipality of Vila Real, based at the Teatro Municipal de Vila Real, preserves the important acquis of this theater. The space is distributed by seven classrooms, with interactive sections, devoted to the first Teatro de Vila Real (1846), theatre-circus (1892), the Teatro Avenida (1930), history of photography, the history of film and other unique temporary exhibitions. There's also an educational service and audiovisual archive, where they develop various initiatives, since the display of publications to the exhibition of contemporary art projects.
