The core of the walled city, through the reconstitution of the defensive structure of the city, allow visitors a better understanding of the history and of the urban space of Coimbra. In the Tower of Almedina-interpretive center of the walled city — stands a model of the medieval city, an important contribution to a correct evaluation and interpretation of the main buildings of the medieval city. On the top floor has a panoramic image of Coimbra. The visit can be complemented with a pedestrian path, which will observe the traces of the wall have survived over the centuries.

The Theatre Bonifrates stages many theatre plays throughout the year.

Sited at the superior cloister and annex areas of the S. Jerónimo College, this place aims to gather, maintain and divulge all about the history of the academic history, its traditions and relations with the University and the city.

Opened in 1985, it is composed with exhibition rooms at the ground floor and, on the first floor, heavy arms park, restoration-shop and material store-room.

Sited in a beautiful exhibition gallery, located at the neo-classical S. Bento Building, it has a permanent exhibition called: “Biology, Biodiversity and Evolution in the Vegetal World”. Here you may also see a considerable number of microscopes and other ancient laboratorial instruments, a good collection of fossils and varied handicraft works.

Integrado no Museu da Ciência, está instalado num edifício pombalino, neste espaço poderá observar uma vasta coleção de instrumentos científicos e didáticos do século XVIII e do século XIX. Aqui o visitante entra numa viagem de regressão no tempo, sendo que numa das salas de época está recriado o Gabinete de Física Experimental do século XVIII.

The Museu da Cidade de Coimbra is placed at the Chiado Building, in a historic, characteristic place of the city. The collection, with six nucleuses, was given to the town council by Dr. Telo de Morais, present art adviser of the Museum. This place has permanent collections of sculpture, painting, furniture and ceramics.

Place dedicated not only to the exhibition of species important to the knowledge of the science and technique history, but also to the promotion of scientific research in that area.

Museum opened in 1913, that had as its initial collection collections that belonged to the Institute of Coimbra and to the Museum of the Bucks. It's National Museum since the Decade of 60 and its name is intended to honor the Royal sculptor in the reigns of d. José, d. Maria I and d. João VI and the most notable representative of 18TH century Portuguese sculpture. After refurbishment, reopened to the public in full in 2012. The permanent exhibition areas and host visitors are focused on building refurbished, classified a national monument.
