A belvedere filled with commemorative plaques in marble with parts of poems by famous Portuguese authors who studied in Coimbra. There is also an area, named "Retiro dos Poetas" (Poets' Corner) with effigies of authors such as Eça de Queiroz, António Nobre and João de Deus. The belvedere has magnificent town views.

One of the loveliest city parks in Portugal, filled with gardens and luxurious trees. Located by the Mondego river, there are some statues and a nice bandstand by the architect Silva Pinto.

The Choupal Woods is one of the loveliest spots in town, with quite unique plant and animal species in Portugal. The Horse Riding Centre of Coimbra is located here.

The Bottanical Gardens were created by the Marquis of Pombal in Coimbra. It is rather lovely and has thousand of scientifically interesting species, bothe local and exotic, besides decorative elements such as tanks and fountains. The guided tours include a part of the woods, the cold hothouse, the topical hothouses and the garden's central square.

Also known as Jardim da Sereia, was once part of the fence of the monastery of Santa Cruz and dates back to the 18th century. The entrance to the Garden is through a triumphal arch, surmounted by three statues representing faith, hope and charity. The arch is still flanked by two turrets of Baroque decoration. The terrace of "The game" continues with its scenic waterfall in the background. The source of the Nogueira with a statue representing a Merman (popularly confused with a mermaid) by opening the mouth to a dolphin.

A space with around 16 hectares, mostly with eucaliptus trees. In the summer of 2005 there was a raging fire and it is currently being reforested.

A nice Renaissance monument, by João de Ruão, whose contruction was ordered by Dom João III. There is a central fountain topped by a dome and, around it, four cylinder shaped hermitages. The entire structure stands on a tank. This magnificent artistic set is classed as a national monument.

A garden with many trees, some quite old and curiously shaped, strenuous paths and a wide variety of plants. Its importance is mostly related to the legend of Inês de Castro. The Farm's fountain is supposedly the "Fonte dos Amores" (Fountain of Love), mentioned by the poet Luís de Camões.

This lovely garden spreads along the Avenue Sá da Bandeira, between the two road tracks, with lakes, trees, flowerbeds and a monument to the Great War.

The Choupalinho Park is a wide green space on the banks of the Mondego river, ideal for resting, walking or for doing sports. It is also a river port for nautical sports and, in the summer, it welcomes the Popular Fair (a kind of luna park) of Coimbra.
