This is a viewpoint filled with evocative marble plaques bearing excerpts from poems by famous Portuguese authors who studied in Coimbra. It also has an area called "Retiro dos Poetas" (Poets' Retreat), with effigies of authors such as Eça de Queiroz, António Nobre, and João de Deus. It offers a magnificent panoramic view of the city.

This is one of the most beautiful city parks in Coimbra, with flowerbeds and leafy trees, dedicated to leisure. The Mondego River forms the backdrop. It features some statuary and a beautiful bandstand by the architect Silva Pinto. On sunny days, there are plenty of activities for all tastes and ages. Electric cars and scooters, inflatable boats, canoes or pedal boats, pedal karts, or a ride on the Barca Serrana (a traditional boat) are some suggestions. The Choupal Forest is one of the most beautiful spaces in the city, possessing flora and fauna difficult to find elsewhere in the country. It has few specimens of the trees that gave it its name, with the exception of some species such as the white poplar, American poplar, and black poplar. Despite the aging of its vegetation, Choupal is still the most famous park in the city. The Coimbra Equestrian Centre is located here, where horseback riding is possible.

The Botanical Garden was built by the Marquis of Pombal as part of a policy to modernize the University of Coimbra. This beautiful green space brings together thousands of species of scientific interest, both exotic and native, as well as decorative elements such as ponds and fountains. Guided tours include a section of the forest, the cold greenhouse, the tropical greenhouses, and the central square of the garden.

Also known as Jardim da Sereia, was once part of the fence of the monastery of Santa Cruz and dates back to the 18th century. The entrance to the Garden is through a triumphal arch, surmounted by three statues representing faith, hope and charity. The arch is still flanked by two turrets of Baroque decoration. The terrace of "The game" continues with its scenic waterfall in the background. The source of the Nogueira with a statue representing a Merman (popularly confused with a mermaid) by opening the mouth to a dolphin.

A space with around 16 hectares, mostly with eucaliptus trees. In the summer of 2005 there was a raging fire and it is currently being reforested.

A nice Renaissance monument, by João de Ruão, whose contruction was ordered by Dom João III. There is a central fountain topped by a dome and, around it, four cylinder shaped hermitages. The entire structure stands on a tank. This magnificent artistic set is classed as a national monument.

A garden with many trees, some quite old and curiously shaped, strenuous paths and a wide variety of plants. Its importance is mostly related to the legend of Inês de Castro. The Farm's fountain is supposedly the "Fonte dos Amores" (Fountain of Love), mentioned by the poet Luís de Camões.

This lovely garden spreads along the Avenue Sá da Bandeira, between the two road tracks, with lakes, trees, flowerbeds and a monument to the Great War.

The Choupalinho Park is a wide green space on the banks of the Mondego river, ideal for resting, walking or for doing sports. It is also a river port for nautical sports and, in the summer, it welcomes the Popular Fair (a kind of luna park) of Coimbra.
