The Oliva Art Center is an exhibition and collection management center created in 2013 as part of the project to reconvert one of the most symbolic industrial buildings in São João da Madeira - the Oliva factory and foundry. From its origin, the Art Center houses two large private collections: the Norlinda and José Lima Collection, one of Portugal's largest private collections of contemporary art; and the Treger / Saint Silvestre art brut and singular art collection, one of the largest of its kind in the Iberian Peninsula.

The Art Center started its activity in May 1986, with the intention of creating a space that allows a privileged access to cultural initiatives at the level of the fine arts, as well as training in specific areas of art not included in academic curricula.
