This 18th-century building was restored by the City Hall when it was in danger of collapsing, to house the ancient numismatic and archaeological collections of Father João Parente. Here you will find one of the largest numismatic collections, as well as other types of archaeological artifacts also collected by Father Parente. This space also has an educational service, complemented by an area for temporary exhibitions.

The Museum of geology at the UTAD was founded in 1985 by Prof. Dr. Fernando Real, notable geologist and Magnificent Rector of the Instituto Universitario de Trás-os-Montes that the following year would be the University of Trás-os-Montes e Alto Douro.
