In this garden, besides trees and bushes, there’s an archaeological nucleus where one may see part of the primitive pillory of Funchal (beginning of the XVI century), tombstones and an ancient coat of arms of the city. One of the main attractions pf this garden is the collection of exotic orchids. In the centre there are also two Manueline windows from the XVI century. It is open from Tuesday to Sunday, from 10h to 12h30 and from 14h to 18h.

Large and pleasant area with an enormous variety of plants and flowers. Here used to be an old house that was then restored and turned into a five stars Inn, the Casa Velha do Palheiro.

Garden set on a place where the Convento de São Francisco used to be, from which remains only the marble blazonry with the arms of Franciscans and the kingdom of Portugal, exposed in one of the grassed areas of the garden. Here are some works of art namely two statues and three busts. There is also a small lake with swans, ducks, fishes and an auditorium where several cultural activities take place.
