This statue was built in 1934, with the aim of perpetuating the figure and work of João Gonçalves Zarco. It has allegoric elements related to the Portuguese discoveries such as peopling, conquest, wisdom and evangelization. This work of the sculptor Francisco Franco won the gold medal in the Iberian - American Exhibit in Seville in the year of 1929.

Old deposit where the ice was kept from winter to summer, avoiding the fusion of ice grains and so securing the supplies for hospitals and hotels. It belongs to the Ecologic Park of Funchal and has 1650 metres high.

Palace built in the XVII century and adapted to be the City hall in the end of the XIX century. It was profoundly remodelled in the 1940s. All the entrance set and the accesses are decorated with glazed tile panels from 1940.
