This river, which originates in Fontes, bathes the city of Leiria and flows into the Atlantic Ocean, north of Praia da Vieira, parish of Vieira de Leiria, municipality of Marinha Grande.

It's a legend that gives this rock its name. It's said that it was because of the longing of the widowed Duchess of Caminha that she went to cry there. The site is a coastal crag, which earned the name Penedo da Saudade.
