This maritime museum was founded in 1910 and has many assets dedicated to the sea. Amongst others, fishing utensils and models of naval building are exhibited.

Praça Dom Afonso III, 14
A museum located in the old Convent of Our Lady of Assunção. Its main collection is composed of archaeological objects, from pre-history to the Middle Ages, with a special note to the roman era, namely through objects that were found at the Milreu ruins. Its religious art collection also stands out, with 17th and 18th centuries religious paintings, some tiles and various decorative objects in the Room Ferreira de Almeida. The chapel that once belonged to the convent is currently used as an auditorium.

The plan of the ruins reveals the charcateristic shape of a roman villa, with a indoors atrium surrounded by a gallery of columns. In the southern part of the ruins, one can see the "nympheum", a sanctuary built in the 4th century, devoted to the water divinities and later transformed into a paleo-christian temple.

This museum preserves a part of the jewish legacy, such as valuable books, documents and artefacts. There are some articles for sale, namely books, videos and souvenirs.
