Located at the Cais Novo Warehouses, where the wines of the Companhia Geral de Agricultura das Vinhas do Alto Douro used to be stored, this is a building that was constructed by the family Pinto da Cunha Saavedra in the 1700s. This space shows the privileged location of Oporto, as a commercial outpost, and relates mostly to the Port wine, the transportations, mainly along the Douro river, and the ways of life that were generated from those activities, namely with th coming of several foreign colonies. It has several programs for specific audiences.

The interpretive center of the Geological Tour of Foz do Douro, inaugurated on November 27, 2008, constitutes a space where there are complementary activities at field visits conducted in outdoor route, as the screening of a documentary on the Metamorphic Complex of Foz do Douro and experimental activities, primarily directed to the public schools. At the Museum of the ISEP are gathered scientific instruments, educational models and other objects that were belonging to the Institute over the years and to assist education units, constituting a collection that extends to almost all areas of engineering taught in this establishment: of physics to electronics, of mathematics to mechanics, chemical engineering civilian, through drawing and mineralogy. In addition to the objects the Museum has a considerable bibliographical estate where we can find major reference works such as the encyclopedia of Diderot and D'alembert, a precious book of Musschenbroeck physics or a book of architecture of Leon Battista …

Lodged at the Igreja da Misericórdia, the museum exhibits valuable historic, religious and musical manuscripts, as well as sculpture and painting works, spreading the institution’s rich patrimony.

Projected and built as a artistic creation place and a vehicle to its divulgation, it increased, during its 30 years of existence, both the dialogue between different artists’ generations and the confront between schools and tendencies. Above all, it enabled the frequent and natural intimacy between the artist and the public, the artist and the city.
