A hill that 977 metres high, tem kilometres long and 7.5 kilometres wide and belongs to the Old Massif of Entre Douro e Tejo (Between Douro and Tagus). A 130 kilometres long river that borders Spain for twenty kilometres. It starts in Spain, on the Mesas Hill, and has its mouth in the Douro river, near Barca d'Alva.

A dam, located on the Aguiar brook, a tributary of the Douro river. Near the dam there is an abbey of Santa Maria de Aguiar. The most common fish species are the carp and the trout and fishing is permitted. One may also windsurf, swim and sail.
