Serra da Marofa

A hill that 977 metres high, tem kilometres long and 7.5 kilometres wide and belongs to the Old Massif of Entre Douro e Tejo (Between Douro and Tagus). It is located to the southwest of Figueira de Castelo Rodrigo, between the Côa river and the Spanish border and it is surrounded by pine woods and oak trees. On the top, a special note to the chapel of Our Lady of Fátima, built in 1947, to the cave of Our Lady of Lurdes, a replica of the one in France, and to the local bookplate: the imposing Cristo Rei (Christ the King, a statue).
