Also called Strong Marquis de Sá de Bandeira, by Decree of 1901, consists of circular redoubt lined by three floors with an equal number of batteries covered with concrete dome fireproof. Inside there is a large cistern. Was classified as 1st class war Square.
This staircase, notable for its balance of proportions and characteristics, it is a rare specimen in the transition from neoclassical aesthetics for concessions and nineteenth century interiors decoration.
The convent dates back to 1509, being the façade crowned by a parapet decorated with flowers and crosses lisadas flower. The interior is enriched by valuable specimens of painting, tiles and jars. Highlighting the Arab Chapel covered with one of the rare stamp mudéjar ceilings.
Founded in 1217, this convent became a reference of the urban structure and the history of the city’s evolution. The fact that the earthquake of 1755 didn’t affect it seriously shows us the robustness of its walls, pillars and arches. It is presently occupied by institutions connected to the teaching of arts and by the Contemporaneous Art National Museum.
