This is a popular place due to Monchique's spring water.

Church built on a longitudinal plan, with a beautiful manueline portico and chancel altar-piece. The church houses a religious treasure composed of objects used during worship that once belonged to the Convent of Nossa Senhora do Desterro (17th century). It also houses a selection of valuable priestly garments.

It is thought that this castle was built by the Moors in the 10th or 11th century, working as a military support shelter to Silves castle. Today only some of the walls and the cistern remain, hidden among the surrounding vegetation and cork-trees.

Chapel built in 1940. Special mention goes to the tile panels, dating back to the 18th century, that describe the life of St Teresa.

According to legend this convent was built in order to fulfil a promise. Two seafarers found themselves in a perilous situation in the high seas and promised to build a chapel on the first spot of Portuguese land they sighted. The convent is full of traditions and has a centennial tree, a magnolia, which is classed as being of public interest.
