Frei Agostinho da Cruz and Diogo Bernardes were brothers born in the municipality of Ponte da Barca. Portuguese poet and Friar Agostinho pepper, nicknamed the name Agostinho da Cruz, wrote Elegies and sonnets. Diogo Bernardes, known as the poet of Lima, had a special predilection for rivers, to describe the melancholy of Minho scenery.
