Discovered in 1955, they are part of a set of caves that exist in the Minde hill. They are configured like a gallery/room and they have a natural chimney. They are filled with stalactites and stalagmites, the largest room has 6000 m2 and they may be visited.

Discovered in 1947, these are the largest caves in Portugal. They are configured like a gallery/room/well and their formation is due to erosion and to tectonic changes. There are subterranean lakes and rooms with lovely calcareous formations. There are two elevators and a depth of 110 metres. Here one finds the Grande Lagoa (Large Lagoon), formed by the Rio Negro (Black River), a subterranean water course that, in the winter, forms the Mira de Aire Lagoon.

The Arrimal Lagoons are surrounded by calcareous wells. The Lagoa Grande (Large Lagoon) uses the wtaer of the Espinho valley and becomes quite important in times of drought. Both lagoons are surrounded by pyrenean oaks, a species that is rare in this region.
