Formerly a dependency of the Arouca Monastery, to receive conventual income, Casa da Tulha is part of the Municipal Museum, being its current museum nucleus. The inscription, of 1760, places its construction in the 18th century. With an interesting general appearance, it is the portal – topped by fires and a cross – that takes center stage in this architectural piece. Visits to Casa da Tulha must be booked at the Municipal Museum.

Serra da Freita is part of the Gralheira Massif, together with Serra da Arada and Serra do Arestal, reaching its maximum altitude at 1085 meters at Pico de São Pedro Velho, and extending through the municipalities of Arouca, São Pedro do South and Vale de Cambra. Installed in the old Town Hall, the Museum was inaugurated on May 18, 1997, International Museum Day, opening its doors to those who wish to learn more about the history of the municipality and the region. Therefore, the Museum has committed itself to collecting, studying, safeguarding and disseminating heritage, developing contact with the public through guided tours and entertainment programs for the public and schools, whose students can attend ateliers and workshops of expression. The Museum also promotes temporary exhibitions and publications about heritage.
