The construction of the Church of Atei probably dates back to the 14th century, featuring late Romanesque architecture. In the 16th century, a chapel was added to it, by order of the Counts of Cantanhede. Later, in the 19th century, other chapels and the main chapel were added to it, giving it its current appearance. Inside, the 19th century altars stand out, with gilded and painted carvings, in a neoclassical style. This temple is located at the top of Monte Farinha, overlooking Mondim de Basto, at around 990 meters above sea level. Belonging to a private collection of the Batista family, it has 60 cars. The small Volkswagen Beetle and the mythical Citroen 2CV share the space with true icons of the automotive world such as a Pontiac Firebird or a Lancia Lambda considered the jewel of the collection. The oldest is a 1916 Hanomag and the most valuable will be a Lancia convertible.

The date of construction of this chapel is unknown, but it existed in 1623.

The current building is the result of several renovations that took place over the centuries. The tower was built in 1940 and equipped with two clocks. In 2000, a carillon with eight bells was installed.
