The main façade stands over a landing where one arrives from a stairway, under which there is passing water. One should notice the three stonework portals with a straight rod in architrave, the taller middle one, with an interrupted triangular gable, a cruxifix and forged iron gratings. Inside, one should pay close attention to the sculptured panel and to the side walls with blue painted wood.

17th century palace, built by Miguel Pais Amaral. It features a façade cut by wide pilasters and two rows of windows with lintels decorated with "Rocaille" style motifs. It has an emblazoned door and, above, a balcony with stone balusters that serve as protection for the main floor door. The south façade has a double veranda with round arches and an original staircase. Also noteworthy is the chapel invoking Saint Bernard.
Igreja da Ordem Terceira de São Francisco

The construction of the primitive church was initiated at th end of the 17th century. Considred insufficient for all the faithful that came by, it was enlarged from the middle of the 18th century until the first decades of the 19th century, at which time the façade was finished. The tiles on the walls of the main chapel and the vault, reconstructed after the earthquake of 1755, are of the 18th century. One should pay close attention to the interior with rococo sculptures.

This monument’s construction was ordered by the Town Hall, paying homage to Gago Coutinho and Sacadura Cabral, the two Portuguese aviators that did, for the first time, the air crossing of the Atlantic-South (Lisbon-Rio de Janeiro) on the single-motor hydroplane “Lusitânia”. The monument is represented by the armillary sphere on top and a stone basis with commemorative inscriptions. It is placed near the city centre, in a square also called “the aviators”.

Castelo de Mogadouro

The castle of Mogadouro was donated by D. Afonso Henriques to the Templars and, a few years later, passed to the Order of Christ, its successor. Today, only two sections of walls remain, an isolated tower with rectangular faces and some scarce remains of carved walls.
Capela dos Castros

The portal of the chapel is surpassed by the coat of arms of the Castros. Inside there is a single nave and the presbytery. On the lateral walls you may see six arches and rectangular windows over them. In this chapel is buried D. João de Castro, vice-king of India.

Group of buildings comprising the old high school, Church and mortuary chapel. The College began to be built in 1606, belonging then to the carmelitos barefoot. Later, worked here the infantry regiment 35 and the temporary Military Hospital wards. The latter is still installed in this building.
