Mangualde

The Mangualde landscape is characterized, to the north, by the passage of the River Dão, and, to the south, by the River Mondego. In several parishes of the municipality, one can still find traces of ancient civilizations. Its fertile soils have been used since ancient times for viticulture, making it one of the largest wine producers in the Dão Demarcated Region. Many visitors come here looking for good food, namely kid, pork crackling and pork crackling and Mangualde's pork chops style, or rice with pork ribs in garlic vines, "carolos", not forgetting sausages and, above all, Serra cheese. Also well-known are the traditional arts, with emphasis on objects in black clay and ceramics, as well as Tibaldinho's Embroidery.
