The Museu Militar do Porto (military museum) is placed in a building dating from the end of the XIX century, where once ran the former PIDE-DGS (political police). It was open to public in 1980. The battle to win in this museum is to preserve study and disclose historical-military patrimony.

When it was created, in 1945, it was called “Museu de Etnografia e História do Douro Litoral”. Since that time it is placed at the Plácio de São João Novo, dated from the XVIII century. This monument has been suffering a huge degradation, being, in 1989, under the guardianship of the IPPC and, in 1991, of the IPM. Closed to the public since 1992, the IPM has being transferring its collections to various museums. Works in the façade and the coverings of the palace have being made and, after the inventory systematization, the intension is to solve the problem definitively.

O Museu do Holocausto do Porto foi criado pela Comunidade Judaica do Porto e pretende traçar um retrato da vida judaica antes, durante e após o Holocausto. Os visitantes terão oportunidade de observar uma reprodução dos dormitórios de um campo de extermínio, uma sala de nomes de vítimas do nazismo, um memorial da chama, fotografias e ecrãs exibindo filmes reais. Entre os objetos que integram a exposição permanente, destaque para dois Sifrei Torá (rolos/livros da Torá) e a repodução da entrada do campo de concentração de Auschwitz, com a frase "Arbeit Macht Frei" (o trabalho liberta).

The Fonoteca Municipal do Porto (FMP) is a sound archive and a public space for music appreciation made up of the collection of vinyl records from the city of Porto. Music lovers will find here a representative archive of a large part of the record production in Portugal, records imported by international artists and works with non-musical content, such as poetry or political speeches.
