Dating back to the 16th century, this fortress has undergone several renovations over time. This fortification preserves a strong wall with ravelins and a tower and is traversed by a corridor that continues under the vault of the old tower. The reconstruction that took place in 1960 defaced the site by attempting to restore its false authenticity. Vila do Bispo

Romanesque-Gothic building dating from the 13th century. It features gargoyles on the side facades and an ogival portal on the front, surmounted by a rose window. The interior has a single nave, with the chancel covered by a coffered vault formed by three Gothic arches. The chapel's side columns have sculpted capitals with zoomorphic, anthropomorphic, and phytomorphic decorations.

The fort is in ruins, with the main entrance and one of the bastion walls remaining. The main façade is preceded by a moat, with a portcullis opening in the center. Inside, remains of quadrangular, vaulted buildings topped by terraces are visible.

Built in the 16th century, it underwent reconstruction in the 17th and 18th centuries. The main door displays the coat of arms of Dom João II. Inside, there is a former Convent of the Jerónimos Friars, founded in the 16th century, and a chapel built over the site where, according to tradition, Saint Vincent was buried.

Vila do Bispo

The original building was virtually destroyed by the corsair Francis Drake. Rebuilt in the 17th century, it was again damaged by the 1755 earthquake. This fortress consists of the ruins of several sections of 17th-century walls. Inside, there are some restored military structures that retain their original architectural design, as well as the Chapel of Santa Catarina, built by Infante D. Henrique.
