Sertã
The municipality of Sertã is part of the Castelo Branco district and is located on the left bank of the Zêzere River. The Serra de Alvelos mountain range occupies a large portion of the landscape, making forestry the main source of income for much of the municipality's working population. Sertã has many charms: beautiful natural landscapes, several monuments, and abundant cuisine and crafts. In terms of gastronomy, the stuffed stomach, sausages, cheeses, "maranhos", and various river fish dishes delight visitors. Not to mention the "Cartuchos de Amêndoa de Cernache", "coscorões", and sweet snacks, which should be finished with a "medronho" brandy. Crafts include wicker basketry, tinwork, and hand-embroidered linens.
