Miradouro do Monte de São Domingos
It's located on the hill of São Domingos, in Fontelo. It offers fantastic views of the Douro landscape. It's considered one of the most spectacular viewpoints in the entire Douro region. From here, you can see the municipalities of Lamego, Tarouca, Resende, Mesão Frio, Régua, Santa Marta de Penaguião, Vila Real, and many others. The spectacle of the farms that frame the Douro River on both sides is extraordinary. Directly in front of us lies the imposing Serra do Marão, which, for those coming from the north coast, is a veritable gateway to the Trás-os-Montes and Alto Douro region.
At the foot of this viewpoint, you can see Régua, an emblematic city of the Douro and the production of Douro wines. If we look further to the left, we also see the Serra das Meadas and, further down, the city of Lamego, well-known for its pilgrimage to Our Lady of Remedies in September, whose sanctuary can be glimpsed with its beautiful staircase that ascends from the city to the summit.
On Mount S. Domingos, there is also a campsite suitable for outdoor enthusiasts. They will certainly find enough attractions nearby to make for a well-spent few days.
