Armamar
Armamar is situated in the Douro region, an area marked by picturesque villages, vineyard terraces (where the Douro wines, including the famous Port Wine, are cultivated and produced) and apple orchards that "paint" the landscape. The numerous archaeological remains show that these lands have been occupied since prehistory. The Goujoim camp, the city's best-known archeological resort, is a tremendous evidence of Armamar's ancient history. In Armamar itself, pay a visit to the Igreja Matriz de São Miguel de Vila Flor mother church, the chapel of São Domingos, the chapel of São Gregório, the church of São Domingos and the Casa Grande de Gogim, the residence of the Vila Flor and Alpedrinha counts and the only existing manor in the town. Be sure to enjoy the beauty of the landscape that can be seen from the Miradouro de São Domingos, Miradouro da Mizarela, Miradouro de São Lourenço, Miradouro da Senhora da Graça and Miradouro da Senhora da Saúde. Armamar's goat is the main regional dish and also the pumpkin stew, the beans with chorizo and the cheese of Vila Nova are worth highlighting.
