Reserva Natural das Dunas de São Jacinto

In Baixo Vouga, between Ovar and the village of São Jacinto and covering the Municipality of Aveiro in the coastal area located between the Atlantic Ocean and the Ria de Aveiro, this extensive dune cord is located. The Nature Reserve includes, in addition to fixed and mobile dunes, a sandy beach and a forest area (Mata de São Jacinto). Once a suitable place for sardine fishing (in the 19th century), the 666 hectares of the Nature Reserve are today an important fauna and flora heritage. In terms of flora, the dunes constitute the natural habitat for numerous species , to which are added the species introduced by humans to fix the dunes.
