Parque Natural do Litoral Norte
The 18km long shoreline, between the mouth of the Neiva river and Apúlia, is a quite rich ecosystem, with a stretch of sandy beaches and dunes that are prompt to erosion. The estuaries of the Neiva and Cávado rivers, together with the pine woods and the farmlands are also a part of this protected area. The fauna is quite rich and includes the gull, the ruddy turnstone, the dunlin, the mallard, the lamprey, the salmon, the eel and more. The flora is also quite original and the ponewoods compose a protection for the dunes.
