The First World War

This exhibition remembers how the city of Guimarães experienced this period and recalls the local soldiers who left for the war, the Infantry Regiment n° 20 (RI 20), in addition to evoke the history of the I World War, in particular, the participating countries, the major battles, the formation of the Portuguese Expeditionary Corps, the Portuguese participation in the war, with reference to the battle of La Lys, where a lot of Portuguese died.

It will also include a space where it will be recreated a trench in which arms will be displayed. In addition, will be featured a set of objects, such as books, maps, military decorations (medals), photographs, postcards, war diaries, belonging to soldiers who took part in this conflict.
