Ponte de Lima

Thousands of people gather every year in the oldest Portuguese town - Ponte de Lima - to attend the secular " Vaca das Cordas" (literally “Cow with Ropes”). According to tradition, the animal (which usually is a bull and not a cow, despite the name of the party) with more than 450 kilos appears conducted by a dozen and a half people and held by two ropes.
The program also includes other bullfighting activities, animation and gastronomic events to encourage the consumption of meat from this region.
