Although the works began in 1840, it was only more than half a century later that the Estoi Palace was completed. The garden of this last example of romantic architecture is characterized by the palm trees and orange trees that populate the two access paths to the garden space. Also, noteworthy is the lake and a gallery of busts.

It is an extensive stretch of sand, between the sea and the Ria Formosa, located about 9 km from Faro city. Access is by boat, from Faro, or by car, crossing the only existing bridge for this purpose, with alternating traffic, which generates long queues. The Roman Villa of Milreu, dating from the 1st or 2nd century, was remodeled in the 4th century. It was occupied until the 6th or 7th century. Currently, the structures of a large manor house, built in the 1st century and remodeled in the 3rd and 4th centuries, the agricultural facilities, a bathhouse and a temple are evident.

The first museum created in the Algarve, in 1874, is located in the former Convent of Nossa Senhora da Assunção. Deactivated in 1834, after the extinction of religious orders, the convent was used as a cork factory during the 20th century. Later, in 1960, the works of adaptation to a museum began. It presents permanent exhibitions of Archeology (Roman and Islamic periods), Religious Painting from the 16th to the 19th century and Painting from the 20th century, as well as temporary exhibitions of the most varied themes.

Extensive beach, which can only be accessed by boat. Both the river and ocean beaches have good quality water and an enchanting landscape. The Church of the Venerable Ordem Terceira de Nossa Senhora do Carmo, one of the most important religious monuments in the Algarve, was inaugurated in 1719. The Capela dos Ossos, inside it, was built in 1816 with bones from a nearby cemetery.
