Teatro Municipal Baltazar Dias

Theatre built in the end of the XIX century by the architect Tomás Augusto Soler. It was first called Teatro Dona Maria Pia, and then changed to Teatro Funchalense, after that to Teatro Manuel de Arriaga and at last Teatro Baltazar Dias, paying homage to the Madeira dramaturge from the XVI century.

In July 2006, born the Instituto do Vinho, do Bordado e do Artesanato da Madeira, I.P. (IVBAM), which includes the Instituto do Vinho da Madeira (IVM) and the Instituto do Bordado, Tapeçarias e Artesanato da Madeira (IBTAM). This entity is responsible for the promotion and dissemination of these regional products and the issuer of the certificate of quality for Embroidery and Madeira wine. This institute brings together Madeira embroidery dating from the XIX-XX centuries, costumes and other props, showing the execution process of Madeira embroidery and its history.
