Rebuilt in the 17th century, the temple preserves the original chancel, the only vestige of the original building that once belonged to a Benedictine convent. The national monument classification applies only to the chancel.

A grand house commissioned in the early 19th century, only completed almost thirty years later. It features an L-shaped floor plan, with two large facades and two turrets topped by balustrades and pinnacles. Inside, the rooms boast neoclassical décor. Outside, a landscaped terrace is flanked by high walls. The palace, despite being on private property dedicated to the production of one of the region's most renowned Alvarinho wines, is open to visitors.

Of the original castle, built by D. Dinis in 1306, only two gates and some sections of the medieval wall remain. Examples of the 17th-century fortification include the Salvaterra Gate, some curtain walls, and bastions. The tower, a contemporary of D. Pedro I and D. Fernando, is another surviving element of the fortress.

Azenha do Mar originated from the commercial harvesting of red algae that grows on the southwest coast of Portugal, known scientifically as Gelidium sesquipedale. For this small, isolated fishing community, sea work is the main and almost exclusive economic activity for most of the year, but in the summer, the focus shifts to "slime harvesting" (algae harvesting), an activity that changes the seaweed's appearance and odor.

A beautiful beach, situated on a cliff with many iconic rocks. It is divided into three parts: to the north, there is a vast stretch of sand with large dunes. To the south, a large area protected by a rocky slope. Between these two, three small beaches have formed, more sheltered from the wind, consisting of beautiful rock formations. It offers good conditions for surfing. Since 2019, it has been officially a nude beach.

From this fortress, built at the end of the 16th century, one can view almost the entire Vila Nova de Milfontes. Originally built with a polygonal plan, with canon areas and two triangular bastions, it was damaged in seevarl ways in 1638. During the reign of D. João IV it underwent changes and its military capacity grew bigger. A model of the military mannerist architecture, it was later turned into a residence and a medieval turret with battlements was added to it. Currently, the trench and the walls are surrounded by vegetation and flowers.

The church has a longitudinal, stepped plan, consisting of a nave and chancel, with an adjoining sacristy and a side chapel. The architecture is Mannerist and Baroque.

It belonged to the ancient franciscan convent when it was built, in the 16th century. It was adapted to become a parish church after 1835. It is an example of the mannerist architecture but with the simple features of the franciscan churches.
