This is the widest moist area in the country with great flora and fauna diversity and a variety of habitats and one of the biggest ranges of swamps. There are 194 species of migrating birds. There are several pedestrian pathways.

The Municipal Museum of Alcochete was inaugrated in 1988 an comprises three different themes: archaeology, history and ethnology. Of the several historical objects here, a special note to the Manuelin Pillory, the original document of the Alcochete chart, dating back to 1515, the Book of Santa Maria de Sabonha, dated 1421/1422, and a set of wights of the Dom Manuel I reformation.

Tal como o nome sugere, o Museu Rural de Boticas tem por objeto de estudo a temática da ruralidade e da sociedade barrosã, no intuito de captar a memória coletiva das suas gentes. Entre achados arqueológicos, fotografia, antigas alfaias agrícolas, utensílios domésticos e outros objetos de caráter etnográfico, o museu pretende criar um espaço que propicie uma compreensão das transformações do homem e do seu habitat ao longo do tempo, num reforço do sentimento coletivo e da identidade das gentes barrosãs.

This hill belongs to the Old Massif and is placed between the Larouco, Cabreira and Marão mountains. To the north, the hill separates the basins of the Cávado and Tâmega rivers. It is also known by the name of Serra as Alturas (Hill of the Heights), it is 8 km long and it is located on the northwest of the Trás-os-Montes region. The Carvalhelhos springs are located there.

A complex with indoor and outdoor swimming pools, a children's pool, and a diving area. A modern space integrated into the Complexo Desportivo Paulo Pinto, located right in the center of São João da Madeira.

A well-maintained municipal park, with plenty of trees, benches distributed throughout the area, as well as good lighting and pedestrian paths. There are open spaces within the park where a fitness trail can be found.
