It is the preferred green space for the inhabitants of Santarém and the most beautiful viewpoint in the city, offering superb views over the Tagus River and the vast, expansive floodplain. Located within the walled area, it boasts the remains of two medieval gates, various species of large trees, birdcages, a playground, and numerous benches. It also houses the Urbi Scallabis - Interpretation Centre, a space where archaeological finds from the old Alcáçova (citadel) can be found.

The Church dates from the XVI century but suffered profound changes during the baroque period, from which we point out the Nicolau Nasoni’s front. Neighbouring the church and the sacristy, you’ll find the Galeria dos Benfeitores, a fine exemplar of the iron architecture where valuable paintings are in exhibition, namely the famous Flemish painting “Fons Vitae”. In exhibition are also religious and civil jewellery Works from the XVI and XX centuries.

Inside, we can find the image of Nossa Senhora da Esperança, who accompanied Pedro Álvares Cabral on the journey he discovered Brazil. The 14th century image is found in a side altarpiece and is much appreciated by those who visit this temple, inaugurated in 1940. The bell tower stands out on the main façade of this church, with eclectic and revivalist marks. It is located in the historic center and offers a privileged view of Cova da Beira.

This chapel is dated from 1672 and it is composed by two distinct bodies. The simple façade does not denunciate the artistic richness on its inside. Here it is possible to find one of the most important repositories of sacra art in the city and a joint of beautiful glazed tiles composed by historian panels from 1698 done by the painter Gabriel del Barco. The church body is covered by baroque carving and glazed tiles from the 18th century.

It is on the way to Colmeal da Torre that you can find this enigmatic building of Roman origin, classified as a National Monument since 1927. There are several theories and legends linked to this rectangular building with three floors, whose initial function remains undefined, but which was possibly integrated into a Roman villa. One of these legends maintains that it was a prison with 100 cells, where Saint Cornelius, who formerly also named it, would have been imprisoned.

The Museum of Cars of Horses is a gem almost hidden in the village of Geraz do Lima.
