Classed since 1978 as a public interest parish, Piódão is located near the Hermínios Hills and is one of the oldest villages in the country, surrounded by wide green areas. The village was firstly inhavited by sheperds. Its houses are mostly made of schist. Because it is difficult to get to, the village is known for the escape of well known criminals. The Vilamoura Environmental Park occupies an area of 200 ha of land owned by Vilamoura and was created with the aim of ensuring the preservation of ecosystems of great natural and landscape value. It integrates different areas of land occupation, which originates different types of habitats, with emphasis on wetlands dominated by reedbeds, areas of agricultural land, golf courses, and an area with dense riparian vegetation along the Ribeira de Quarteira.

With an area of over 18,000 hectares, it is one of Algarve's ex-libris. A place of great natural beauty, it is home to around fifty different species of animals and plants. It is a large natural channel, which runs parallel to the sea.

Leisure space in the center of Loulé, with extensive trees and garden areas for picnics. It also has maintenance circuits and is open every day, 24 hours a day.

The Trancão River, formerly known as the Sacavém River, runs for about thirty kilometers, starting in the parish of Milharado, in Mafra and flowing into the sea in Sacavém. Since 1999, it has had a WWTP in Frielas, with the capacity to treat sewage for 700,000 inhabitants.

This urban park is of particular relevance in the municipality, with vast grassy areas and some forested areas, with a climbing wall, slide, minigolf course and half-pipes, picnic area, athletics track, maintenance circuit, cycle path, mountain biking area , flight slope, jumping tower, among other equipment. It also houses an environmental education center and the Municipal Veterinary Center.

Also known as Parque Adão Barata, it is a large and pleasant space, which includes a vast grassy area, some shaded areas, a picnic area, two playgrounds and even a sports center and a geriatric park.

Known for Municipal Forest António Pereira Afonso, this location is considered the lung of the city, being composed of 3.5 hectares. Ample green space, with lots of greenery and trees.

The Jamor National Sports Centre began construction in 1944, along the right bank of the river Jamor. Is, since then, a space dedicated to sports (including the sport of high competition) and leisure. In addition to the well-known National Stadium, offers swimming pool, athletics track, tennis courts, golf and minigolf, adventure park and walking routes.

Garden of large dimensions with a luminous fountain, from 1940, from Rebelo de Andrade. The large lawn and the arboreous grove, with Australian pines, Canary palm-trees, stone and bastard pines characterized this garden. This space has a playground, game’s tables and belvedere.
