Designed by North American architect Peter Chermayeff, it is located at Doca dos Olivais, in the heart of Parque das Nações. It was one of the main attractions of Expo 98 and, since then, it has become one of the most emblematic places in the city. In this "global ocean" four different habitats are recreated – the North Atlantic, the temperate Pacific, the Antarctic and the Indian Ocean – arranged around a central tank.
It is a mixture of architectural styles, the result of the amount of times it has been restored. You can visit the Gothic cloister and the treasury, with a very varied collection of silver objects, ecclesiastical vestments, images, manuscripts and relics related to São Vicente. On the outside, the façade stands out, with a porch and portal with four primitive Romanesque archivolts.
Inspired by the concept of tasca portuguesa, Lisbon People bar restaurant is a meeting point for lovers of the city of Lisbon. This bar restaurant proposes a return to the traditional snack lisboeta, challenging visitors to evenings of conversation and conviviality around a good table with good wine. At the restaurant bar Lisbon People sit the fate, love, nostalgia and the beating of Lisbon in a way that hardly will be explained and must be felt.
