Built for the Great Exhibition of the Portuguese World, in 1940, is has large lawns. The monuments paying homage to Gago Coutibho and Sacadura Cabral stand out. It is a great leisure area, ideal for walks, bicycle or skate rides.

Opened in 1825, it was oredered by the Marquês de Tomar. In the XIX century it was called the Passeio da Estrela. The vegetation is secular with about 800 arboreous species and large variety of flowers. It is a garden of romantic conception and a has a bandstand, an esplanade, a library, a greenhouse, artificial grottos, lakes and picnic area, being one of the most pleasant spaces in the city.

Created in 1934, it has about 1000 ha and is called the city lung. It has a space of ecologic reserve, protecting 150 species. It also has a leisure area with restaurants, café, playground and lots of space to walk.

The Bela Vista (Lovely View) Park is the result of the reconversion of an old farm, one among the many that once existed in the eastern part of town. Th first plantation of trees dates back to almost two decades before now. Nonetheless, the Park only opened its gates in 1991. A wide area where musical events take place.

It is the largest urban park in the country, with an area of 83 hectares that extends to the sea. Designed by the architect Sidónio Pardal, it is an open space with water mirrors, lawns, small woods and about 10 km of paths. It has excellent conditions for the practice of sports or, simply, for walking in contact with Nature. In the park, you can also visit the Water Pavilion and the Sea Life aquarium.

This is a large garden, with leafy trees, a great spot to take a walk or practice sports such as football, jogging or riding a bicycle. This former rural farm has benches and tables, which are ideal for a picnic, as well as running tracks where you can go across 90 hectares of vegetation.

Parque da Lavandeira is a large space with several themed gardens, including an aquatic garden, a grass garden, a neo-Gothic greenhouse, a garden with a labyrinth and an oriental garden. A popular place to practice sports, it often organizes outdoor activities, such as yoga or tai-chi classes. It has a children's playground, bar, picnic area and parking.

Green space with an area of 4.5 hectares and the ideal conditions for sports and leisure time. Those who visit can enjoy the shade of leafy trees, playground, picnic tables, tennis court and ping-pong table, street basket tables, ring and fitness circuit. It also has parking and an area for bicycles.

The gardens of the Palace of Queluz are a result of the sinthesis of decorative elements inspired by the 18th century French baroque, which is only natural since the construction was ordered by Dom Pedro according to the model of the Palace of Versailles. Almost abandoned, the Palace of Queluz was restored in the 1930s for the 1940 Exposição do Mundo Português (Exhibition of the Portuguese World). Currently, one can still see the lakes of Neptune and Amphitritis, the sets of sculptures and a part of the big lake.

The well known São Roque Park is a large space, with lots of trees. You can take a walk, have a café or do a picnic at using the benches and tables you’ll find there. This Park used to be the former Quinta da Lameira and opened to the public in 1979, after being bought by the Town Hall. Right at the entrance there’s a branchy, fresh grove and, as you walk through it, you’ll find stone benches, lawn platforms, a lake, a terrace over the Douro River, a small box labyrinth and a playground.
