Aldeia da Luz

Aldeia da Luz, as is known today, is a result of the advance of the times. With the construction of the Alqueva dam, the old Light, Paleolithic and Neolithic origin, was submerged, such as Castelo da Lousa, of Roman origin, and some passages of Roman roads crossing the Guadiana. Against the wishes of the population, was built a village, about two miles from the former, opened in 2002. Despite the attempt to keep the traces and the assets, it is impossible to reproduce perfectly what the waters have led. To prevent the past of this village were also submerged, was created the Museum of light, in 2003, thanks to the willingness of the population to preserve their identity.
